2026 BPP Renditions Forms Have Been Mailed – 01/01/2026

NOTICE TO ALL BUSINESS

OWNERS IN CHAMBERS COUNTY

Chambers County Appraisal District has mailed Business Personal Property Rendition forms for the 2026 Appraisal Year.

***New for 2026: The 89th Texas Legislature enacted House Bill 9, amending Sections 11.145, 22.01, and 22.24 of the Texas Property Tax Code exempting some income producing business personal property. ***

Per Senate Bill 340 all business owners are required to render their taxable business personal property.  The law requires that you render either the actual book value information or “good faith estimate” of the property’s fair market value.  The law provides penalties for failure to render and severe penalties for falsifying any information provided by the rendition.  All property owners must comply with this law.

Who must file a rendition form?  A person who owns tangible personal property used for the production of income, or who manages or controls such property as an authorized agent, must file a rendition annually.

What are filing deadlines?  The rendition statement must be filed between January 1st and April 15th.  By written request, an automatic extension to May 15th may be obtained.  The Chief Appraiser may further extend the deadline an additional 15 days if the property owner files a written request showing good cause for the additional extension.  A property owner who fails to file a timely rendition statement may be assessed a penalty of 10% of the total taxes imposed on the property for the tax year.

If you have any questions or you are a business owner and haven’t received a rendition, please contact our office at 409-267-3795 and we will be happy to help.
